Reliable Redundancy for 24/7 Enterprise Operations

Internet Service Use Case by WilloWeb

Overview

A 24-hour enterprise client required highly reliable internet service to support their critical systems. Despite having two ISPs, they faced potential vulnerabilities, as both connections relied on the same long-haul fiber network used by regional carriers.

Solution Implemented

To address this vulnerability, we deployed a high-speed, Point-to-Point (PTP) wireless link that bypassed the long-haul fiber entirely.

This dedicated link connected directly to our nearest major Point of Presence (POP), which terminated at a secure data center, providing a completely independent pathway for the client’s internet service.

Business Challenges

The client’s location presented a unique risk: all available regional carriers utilized the same_ long-haul fiber infrastructure. Although they had dual ISP connections, a single major fiber outage would render both connections inoperable, jeopardizing their continuous operations and system availability,

Results

The deployed PTP link delivered over 2 Gbps of symmetrical bandwidth with latency below 19ms, creating a resilient, high-performance backup for the client. About 18 months later, a major fiber cut impacted the client’s primary ISP circuits, causing an extended regional outage.

However, the WilloWeb PTP link remained unaffected, and the automatic failover process ensured seamless continuity without any downtime. The client’s IT Director reported that the backup link performed_ flawlessly
during the prolonged outage, underscoring the value of this strategic redundancy.
